About us

The Shobhit Innovation and Startup Foundation (SISF) is a landmark initiative of Shobhit University, Meerut aimed at institutionalizing a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem within the campus and beyond. Shobhit University recognizes that higher educational institutions must go beyond conventional teaching and act as catalysts for social and economic transformation. It seeks to empower youth to identify pressing societal issues, innovate sustainable & scalable solutions and convert them into viable business models. Rooted in Indian values and global perspectives, the Foundation nurtures an innovation mindset while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, industry linkages, and community engagement.

The Foundation provides comprehensive support structures, including pre-incubation programs, incubation centres, funding facilitation, IPR management, mentoring, business development services and access to expert networks. It supports faculty-led startups, student ventures and external innovators, creating a seamless interface between academia, industry and society.SISF operates under a well-defined governance framework aligned with national policies such as the National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) and the University’s own research and development strategy. The Foundation’s policies cover key aspects such as equity sharing, revenue distribution, intellectual property rights, technology transfer and commercialization of innovations.

Thrust Areas

Engineering Innovation & Prototyping

SISF enables students to transform technical ideas into working prototypes using advanced fabrication and design facilities. The AICTE-supported Modrobe mechanical lab provides hands-on exposure to real-world engineering tools. The thrust area focuses on developing industry-relevant mechanical and automation solutions.

Digital Technologies & Software Development

This thrust area nurtures innovation in software engineering, AI, cloud computing, and full-stack development. Students gain practical experience in building applications and digital platforms. The focus is on creating scalable, efficient, and user-centric technological solutions.

Internet of Things (IoT) & Smart Systems

SISF supports IoT-based innovation through device programming, sensor integration, and automation platforms. Students learn to develop smart, connected systems for healthcare, agriculture, and industry. The objective is to build intelligent solutions aligned with emerging smart-city and Industry 4.0 needs.

Health Sciences & Biomedical Innovation

With strong biomedical and health sciences programs, SISF promotes innovation in medical devices, diagnostics, health monitoring, and rehabilitation technologies. Students leverage university laboratories and hospital partnerships for practical learning. The thrust area aims to develop affordable, impactful technologies for improved healthcare delivery.

Financial Management & Entrepreneurship Development

SISF trains students in financial literacy, startup funding pathways, budgeting, and business planning. Through workshops and expert talks, learners understand investment strategies, funding models, and MSME/CM-Yuva schemes. This thrust area helps young entrepreneurs build financially sustainable and market-ready startups.

Nanotechnology & Advanced Materials

The foundation encourages exploration of nanomaterials, biomaterials, and advanced functional materials for interdisciplinary applications. Students work on cutting-edge innovations relevant to healthcare, electronics, and environmental sustainability. This area supports the development of next-generation devices and materials-based solutions.

Our Governance

Chairperson / President

Provides overall strategic leadership and ensures alignment of SISF activities with university vision and national innovation policies. Oversees major decisions, partnerships, and long-term planning.

Vice-Chairperson

Assists the Chairperson and coordinates institutional support for SISF operations. Ensures smooth implementation of innovation, incubation, and startup programs.

Executive Director / CEO

Leads day-to-day operations of the foundation, manages incubation programs, funding processes, and stakeholder engagement. Coordinates with faculty, industry, and government bodies.

Dean (Innovation & Research)

Guides research-driven innovation activities and facilitates collaboration between academic departments and SISF. Ensures research outputs translate into prototypes and startups.

Faculty Innovation Coordinators

Represent respective schools and departments, identify student innovators, and guide them in ideation and prototype development. Assist in organizing workshops and mentoring programs.

Financial Controller

Manages financial operations, auditing, funding disbursements, and compliance with government norms (MSME, AICTE, DST, etc.). Ensures transparency and accountability in fund usage.

Industry & MSME Liaison Officer

Builds partnerships with industries, MSME groups, and startups. Facilitates internships, technology transfer, and exposure visits.

Startup Mentor

Provides guidance in business planning, financial management, market analysis, and pitch preparation. Supports students through incubation and pre-incubation stages.

Technical Lab Manager

Oversees the functioning of innovation labs (AICTE Modrobe, IoT Lab, Software Development Facility, Biomedical Labs). Manages equipment, training, and safety protocols.

Student Innovation Council Representatives

Voice student needs, participate in innovation activities, and support peer learning. Help coordinate hackathons, idea competitions, and awareness programs.
